Since World Animal Day is here again, we are giving away food and snacks via “Food Bank Dalfsen” to all the pets of their clients. Food bank Dalfsen helps the residents of the municipality Dalfsen who, due to financial problems, are unable to buy sufficient food for themselves or their families. We have prepared a package for the various pets of the clients – cats, dogs, parrots, and rabbits – full of food and snacks. For the dog and cat food, we have chosen Katz Menu and Euro Premium, both dry food of the best quality. Now, the clients of the food bank Dalfsen can give their pet a little extra on World Animal Day too.
The third charity that we will support in 2016 is Wings of Change. This foundation commits to supporting those people who fall through the cracks of present-day society, with its many budget cuts. The foundation offers many activities and work for the clients. This work includes, for example, looking after the horses, maintenance of the vegetable garden, and looking after and training birds of prey and owls. The treatment using birds of prey is unique in the Netherlands.
As mentioned before, Mol diervoeding will support multiple charities in 2016. Last time, we chose to sponsor Care Farm Molenzicht and this time we chose animal shelter Koningen in Balkbrug. The animal shelter accommodates dogs and cats, both strays as well as pets who can no longer stay with their owner for whatever reason. They provide the animals with a new and stable home, cooperate with a number of host families, and they have a large group of volunteers. We visited animal shelter Koningen last week and sponsored them with 200 kilos of dog food, which they appreciated very much!
Since we feel socially responsible, we have decided to support multiple charities in 2016, either through products or through a sum. The first charity for the upcoming year that we supported with a sum is Care Farm Molenzicht in Zwolle.
Molenzicht is a cattle farm where participants with an impairment between the ages of 18 and 80 can help with the daily work activities. This can take place with the animals, on the land, in the greenhouse, at the bicycle mechanic, in the garden or via production work. It is not only important to work together and be active, but you can also just enjoy your time. Part of the participants has a non-inherent brain injury. There are also people receiving mental health care, people with a physical disability, elderly who visit the farm as participants, and youths with a large distance from the labour market. ‘Molenzicht is a place where everyone is free to be themselves, where we do not focus on disabilities, but on the possibilities to let a person bloom.’
Mol diervoeding feels socially involved, which is why we have supported the Nature Farm in Dalfsen for over 10 years by donating pet food and other supplies for animals. Orders are regularly processed and picked up by the nature farm. We support the farm with multiple products for various kinds of animals, such as rabbits, horses, sheep, goats, deer, chickens and guinea-pigs.
The nature farm ‘Lindenhoeve’ is a farm established by Dalfsen society. The farm is located at a beautiful spot with a pond and a large garden among the meadows. They also have partnerships with Philadelphia, Observatory Het Vechtdal and bee association Oudleusen. A number of the clients from Philadelphia works at the farm under supervision from Monday to Friday. They help caring for the animals, feeding them, clean the stables and maintaining the garden and the terrain. In this way, nature farm ‘Lindenhoeve’ provides space for people with a handicap.
